Stars turned out in force last night to celebrate the opening of The Starry Messenger in the West End.

Sarah Jessica Parker attended the opening to support her husband Matthew Broderick, who plays Mark in the show. Amanda Abbington, Graham Norton, Kara Tointon and more were also there to celebrate.

Kenneth Lonergan's play follows the desensitised Mark Williams (Broderick), an astronomer at New York City's Planetarium.

Directed by Sam Yates, the cast also features Downton Abbey's Elizabeth McGovern, Jim Norton, Rosalind Eleazar, Jenny Galloway, Sinead Matthews, Joplin Sibtain and Sid Sagar.

Reviewing the show for WhatsOnStage, Sarah Crompton said: "It is a quiet, funny and perceptive study of a certain type of uptight disappointment and emotional paralysis. "
