We spoke with cast members and playwright Rory Mullarkey about his new play, Pity, which is currently running at the Royal Court.

Directed by Sam Pritchard, the piece is set in a market square that becomes increasingly surreal and asks whether or not the world is getting better or worse.

Abraham Popoola and Sophia Di Martino lead the cast alongside Paul Bentall, Sandy Grierson, Helena Lymbery, Siobhan McSweeney, Francesca Mills, Paul G Raymond and Dorian Simpson.

The production has design by Chloe Lamford, costume by Annemarie Woods, lighting by Anna Watson, composition by Tom Deering, sound by Pete Malkin and movement by Sasha Milavic Davies. It also features members of the Fulham Brass Band.
