Pity at the Royal Court casting announced

Rory Mullarkey’s new play is about how far we really care if things get worse

Casting has been announced for the world premiere of Rory Mullarkey's Pity, which opens at the Royal Court next month.

Directed by Sam Pritchard, the play will star Paul Bentall, Sandy Grierson, Helena Lymbery, Sophia Di Martino, Siobhan McSweeney, Francesca Mills, Abraham Popoola, Paul G Raymond and Dorian Simpson.

It is set in a market square where normality slowly transforms into absurdity and reflects on whether or not the world is really getting worse. It marks Mullarkey's third show at the Royal Court, following his The Wolf at the Door and translation of Remembrance Day. Pity designed by Royal Court associate designer Chloe Lamford, with costume design by Annemarie Woods, lighting design by Anna Watson, composition by Tom Deering, sound design by Pete Malkin and movement direction by Sasha Milavic Davies. It will also feature members of the Fulham Brass Band.
