Hannah Chissick's revival of Hugh Whitemore's Pack of Lies opens at the Menier Chocolate Factory this week, so we sat down with the director and some of the cast to find out more.

Inspired by real-life events, the production stars Finty Williams and Chris Larkin as a middle-aged couple whose best friends are their Canadian neighbours. When a detective asks to use their house while he watches a Soviet spy ring, the Jacksons are forced to decide whether to betray their friends or their country.

Whitemore's play premiered at the Lyric in 1983 starring Judi Dench and Michael Williams (parents of Finty Williams).

The production also features Jasper Britton, Alasdair Harvey, Macy Nyman, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Sia Dauda and Natalie Walter.

Whitemore – who died this year in July at the age of 82 – adapted Pack of Lies from Act of Betrayal which was part of the Play for Today television series.
