Complete cast and creative team members have been confirmed for the upcoming West End premiere of Operation Mincemeat.

Based on the true story of a plan to fool the Nazis using a dead body and a dossier of fake plans, the hit show got a glowing review when it first opened, being described as “two acts of glib glamour that glow with theatrical invention“.

Directed by Rob Hastie, the production features choreography by Jenny Arnold, musical direction by Joe Bunker, set and costume design by Ben Stones, lighting design by Mark Henderson, sound design by Mike Walker, orchestrations and vocal arrangements by Steve Sidwell, associate direction by Georgie Staight and casting direction by Pearson Casting.

Hastie commented: “I’m a big fan of SpitLip’s work, and fell in love with Operation Mincemeat from the start. I’m thrilled to have been working with the team to help develop the show since its run in Hammersmith, and we’re all looking forward to the next stage of its evolution as we share this joyous story with the West End. I’m delighted to be getting back into the room with SpitLip and the company. They’re everything you hope a gang like that will be – innovative, creative, collaborative, daring, excellent taste in rehearsal snacks.”

Joining the previously announced David Cumming, Claire-Marie Hall, Natasha Hodgson, Jak Malone and Zöe Roberts will be understudies Seán Carey (returning from the Hammersmith Studios run), Geri Allen, Christian Andrews and Holly Sumpton.

Following previous runs at the New Diorama Theatre in 2019 and Southwark Playhouse in 2020, 2021 and 2022, as well as an extended run at Riverside Studios last summer, SpitLip’s celebrated musical is heading to the Fortune Theatre. The Woman in Black is scheduled to play its final performance at the venue on 4 March 2023, following a 33-year tenure.

Operation Mincemeat is scheduled to run from 29 March to 8 July in the West End, with press nights set for 9 and 10 May. Tickets are on sale below.
