Missing (Tour - Newcastle)
Gecko have returned with a brand new show. If you can manage to get a seat I would urge you to do so, and FAST.
Missing/i> can be interpreted in many ways, and with so many explorations taking place in the one hour and ten minutes that the show runs, you will be constantly bombarded with music, narration and stunning physical theatre, visual images, puppetry and light, for light is the key component in this show, and we all are reminded that in the frenetic world in which we live, we have lost or are losing our own unique light, or soul, as in the case of the central character, Lilly.
The show has been created by Amit Lahav, with a company of five including Anna Finkel, Chris Evans, David Bartholomew, Georgina Roberts and Ryan Perkins-Gangnes.
In the program notes we are informed that “...don’t know what missing will mean to you.” Well it means the most amazing evening of theatre to me. There is such vitality, darkness, humour and frenzy taking place that your thoughts and feelings are assaulted at every stage of the performance.
Travelators move the actors in and out of each other’s lives, scenes and existence. Revolves turn Lilly’s world upside down as she voyages through memory and remembrances to reconnect with her soul, something I feel we are all being urged to do in this performance.
I loved every second of this show, and then like a light, it was switched off and all I have is the memory.
