Michael Ball to host this year's Olivier Awards

The ”Mack and Mabel” star will helm the 40th anniversary celebrations

Musical theatre stalwart Michael Ball will host this year's Olivier Awards ceremony which will take place on Sunday 3 April at the Royal Opera House.

The Mack and Mabel star, a two-time Olivier Award-winner (Best Actor for Hairspray and Sweeney Todd), will helm the awards in their 40th year. He will also host the nominations announcement on 29 February at Rosewood London, available to watch live on the Olivier Awards website.

The public can get involved with this year's awards by voting in the Magic Radio Audience Award, the only category voted for entirely by members of the public. Voting is open from today until 11 March.

This year’s awards will be broadcast live on Mellow Magic, with highlights broadcast on ITV on the evening of 3 April.
