Kneehigh announces 2018 Asylum line up

The festival takes place in the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall

Cornwall-based theatre company Kneehigh has announced the line-up for its Festival of Pandemonium at Asylum, the company’s award-winning purpose-built tent in the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Directed by Carl Grose and Keziah Serreau, Ubu Karaoke! (2 to 25 August) is a new musical inspired by Alfred Jarry’s Ubu Roi. Set in promenade, the sing-along satire will feature iconic rock and pop anthems performed by the Kneehigh band accompanied by the audience. The company features Kneehigh regulars Niall Ashdown, Kyla Goodey, Robi Luckay, Alex Lupo, Katy Owen, Justin Radford, Ian Ross and Mike Shepherd.

Simon Harvey adapts Jim Dodge's novel Fup (7 to 22 September, then tours), about a 100 year-old grandad and his enormous grandson Tiny whose life changes when a gigantic duck called Fup arrives. Fup returns following a sold-out run at the Asylum in 2016. Directed by Harvey, the cast includes Zaid Al-Rikabi, Jenny Beare, Calvin A Dean, Rachel Leonard, Dave Mynne and Ben Sutcliffe.

Mike Shepherd directs Quentin Blake's The Dancing Frog (7 to 25 August), a tale of hope and courage which has been reworked by Kneehigh. The cast features Jenny Beare, Ailsa Dalling, Tim Dalling and Sarah Wright.

Festival of Pandemonium runs at Kneehigh's Asylum from 2 August to 22 September. Tickets for the festival go on general sale from 12 April 2018.
