Carl Grose’s touring show is an adaptation of Gunter Grass’ surreal novel
Images offering a first look at Kneehigh's new show The Tin Drum have been released.
The touring show, which is a co-production between the Liverpool Everyman and West Yorkshire Playhouse, opens this week in Liverpool. It is written by Carl Grose with music composed by Charles Hazelwood and is an adaptation of the novel by Gunter Grass, where three year-old Oskar, angry at the adult world, decides to remain a child forever.
He travels with a indestructible tin drum and a penetrating singing voice. The show is directed by Mike Shepherd, with puppet designs from Sarah Wright and choreography from Etta Murfitt.
The ensemble cast Nandi Bhebhe, Les Bubb, Dom Coyote, Damon Daunno, Rina Fatania, Angela Hardie, Bettrys Jones, Patrycja Kujawska, Beverly Rudd and Sarah Wright. Ross Hughes, Alex Lupo and Ruth Wall are the show's musicians.
The show also visits West Yorkshire Playhouse, Bristol, Cornwall and then London.
The Tin Drum opens at the Liverpool Everyman on 5 October and then tours until 23 December.
