Ethan Coen's plays headed for the UK?

The film-maker hopes that some of his one-act plays will cross the pond

Film-maker Ethan Coen, best known for his work with his brother Joel, has revealed that some of his plays might be headed to the UK for the first time.

Speaking to the BBC, he said that there was "nothing definite", but "hopefully the first bunch of one-act plays I did with Neil Pepe [artistic director] at the Atlantic Theater Company might be coming here".

Coen, who's film work includes No Country For Old Men, The Big Lebowski and True Grit, had his first play Almost An Evening premiere Off-Broadway in 2008.

He has also written a one-act comedy Talking Cure, and his plays Happy Hour, Offices and his latest Women of Nothing were all produced by the Atlantic Theater Company, the latter having just finished a run at the Linda Gross Theatre in New York.

Describing himself as a "play hobbyist", Coen also told the BBC that he plans to write more stage work in the future. The Coen Brothers' next film Inside Llewyn Davis comes out in January.
