David Bedella joins cast of & Juliet in the West End

The new musical will open in London in November

David Bedella is to join the cast of & Juliet, it has been announced.

The two-time Olivier Award-winner's work includes roles in Jerry Springer the Opera and In the Heights. He will star as Lance alongside the already announced Miriam-Teak Lee, Oliver Tompsett, Cassidy Janson, Arun Blair-Mangat, Melanie La Barrie, Jordan Luke Gage and Tim Mahendran.

The new musical features songs written by pop composer Max Martin, who has written some of the biggest pop tracks of the last 30 years, including tunes performed by Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Ariana Grande.

& Juliet follows what might have happened at the end of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, if Juliet had decided not to kill herself. The piece is directed by Luke Sheppard and has a book by David West Read. Jennifer Weber is choreographing the show, which has set design from Soutra Gilmour, costume design by Paloma Young, musical supervision, orchestration and arrangement by Bill Sherman, lighting by Howard Hudson, sound by Gareth Owen, musical direction and additional arragements by Dominic Fallacaro and casting by Stuart Burt.

The show's ensemble includes Jocasta Almgill, Josh Baker, Alishia-Marie Blake, Ivan De Freitas, Rhian
Duncan, Danielle Fiamanya, Kieran Lai, Nathan Lorainey-Dineen, Jaye Marshall, Grace Mouat,
Antoine Murray-Straughan, Kerri Norville, Christopher Parkinson, Dillon Scott-Lewis, Kirstie
Skivington and Alex Tranter.

& Juliet opens for a limited run in Manchester in September, before opening in London in November.
