Cast announced for The Tempest and The Winter's Tale

The productions of the Bard’s late plays will run in January and February 2016

Casting has been announced for Dominic Dromgoole's final production as artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe. In The Tempest, Tim McMullan will play Prospero, with Pippa Nixon joining him as Ariel. The production runs from 17 February.

Casting has also been announced for The Winter's Tale. From 28 January, John Light will star as King Leontes alongside Rachael Stirling as Hermione and Niamh Cusack as Paulina in Michael Longhurst's production.

The Winter's Tale cast also includes James Garnon, who will play Autolycus.

Light has performed at the Globe as Jacques in As You Like It in 2009 and his recent credits include Hapgood at Hampstead Theatre. Nixon played Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2008.

The full cast of The Winter’s Tale comprises Simon Armstrong, Jessica Baglow, Tia Bannon, Sam Cox, Niamh Cusack, Steffan Donnelly, James Garnon, Dennis Herdman, Tom Kanji, John Light, Fergal McElherron, Ryan McKen, Daniel Rabin, Rachael Stirling, Kirsty Woodward and David Yelland.

Each of the productions will take place in the indoor Sam Wanamaker Playhouse in the new year.
