Caryl Churchill and Roy Williams pen plays for Donald Trump theatre festival

Caryl Churchill and Roy Williams are to contribute to a new festival of plays about Donald Trump.
Theatre503 will host Top Trumps, a festival responding to the upcoming US president's election and inauguration. As well as Churchill and Williams, Neil LaBute and Hassan Abdulrazzak will also pen short plays as part of the festival.
Churchill's play will look at a family split by voting differences, LaBute's piece looks to the future of sexual politics, Abdulrazzak's focuses on Palestinian politics, while Williams' play will explore the black vote for Trump.
Other writers featured in the festival are Christopher Adams, K.Isaac, Amanda Lane, Lorna French, Lily Bevan, Tearrance Chisholm, Ryan Watson and Helen Banner.
The festival runs from 19 to 21 January and begins the theatre's spring season, which also includes Years of Sunlight (25 January to 18 February), Escape the Scaffold (22 March to 15 April) and Homecomings festival.
Lisa Spirling, artistic director of Theatre503 said: "Part of the thrill and necessity of theatre is that it can respond immediately to the world around us. We can’t know the impact of the times we are living in but with Top Trumps, Theatre503’s writers are investigating these heady days and exploring how best to prepare ourselves for the moments ahead."
Top Trumps runs from 19 to 21 January.
