Caroline Sheen is to return to the role of Violet Newstead in 9 to 5 the Musical, it has been announced.

The star will replace Louise Redknapp in the role from 4 July.

Redknapp was forced to withdraw from the show in rehearsals after an accident where she fractured her wrist. Sheen replaced her in the role performed until 25 March when Redknapp took over.

Sheen's credits include Les Misérables in the West End, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Palladium and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at the National Theatre.

She plays alongside Amber Davies as Judy Bernly, Natalie McQueen as Doralee Rhodes, Bonnie Langford as Roz Keith and Brian Conley as Franklin Hart until 31 August 2019.

Dolly Parton's musical, which has a book by Patricia Resnick, announced a UK tour from 4 September, beginning in Birmingham. Casting for the West End show from September, and for the tour, will be announced in due course.

Based on the 1980 film of the same name, 9 to 5 the Musical has music and lyrics by Parton.

The show has choreography by Lisa Stevens, design by Tom Rogers, lighting design by Howard Hudson, sound design by Poti Martin, video by Nina Dunn, musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Mark Crossland, musical direction by Andrew Hilton and casting by Victoria Roe.

In her review for WhatsOnStage, Sarah Crompton said the show 'knows exactly who it is pleasing and does so with a lot of energy'.
