Bugsy Malone returns to the Lyric

The hit production of Alan Parker’s musical returns in 2016

Sean Holmes's high-octane new production of Alan Parker's musical Bugsy Malone is due to return to the Lyric Hammersmith in the summer 2016.

The production returns following its premiere in April this year, which marked the re-opening of the Lyric Hammersmith following refurbishment. It was the first professional production of the show in over ten years.

The cast was made up of child and young-adult actors, many of whom were making their professional debuts.

WhatsOnStage critic Michael Coveney gave the production five stars in his review and said "Brilliantly directed by Holmes and sensationally well-choreographed by Drew McOnie, the show is a blast from titfer top to tapping toe and contains all the elements of youthful energy and high spirits the whole rebooted Lyric enterprise is hoping to harness and channel back into the locality."

Parker said: "I’m delighted that the Lyric are bringing back Bugsy Malone. The 2015
production was beautifully mounted by Sean Holmes and his team and a revelation to me – by far and away the best stage production of it I’ve ever seen."

The cast are yet to be announced. The show will open in previews from 11 June and runs for 12 weeks with a press night on 24 June.
