Mike Leigh's popular play Abigail's Party is coming to the Leicester Curve this autumn.

The cast will include Emily Head, best known for her role as Carly in The Inbeweeners, as Angela.

Troubled couple Beverley and Laurence will be played by Natalie Thomas (Boeing Boeing, Crucible) and Patrick Moy, who returns to the Curve having appeared in Translations and The Lieutenant of Inishmore.

Sue will be played by Jackie Morrison (Oh What A Lovely War, National), and Cary Crankson (The Saints, Nuffield) plays Tony.

Set in the 1970s, Abigail's Party tells the story of suburban couple Beverley and Laurence, who plan to host a party for their newlywed neighbours, Angela and Tony, and divorcee Sue, whose daughter, Abigail, is hosting her own party down the road. But with Beverley struggling to hold it all together, the grown-up evening she had planned begins to spiral out of control.

The production directed by the Curve's associate director Suba Das and will be the theatre's first production to be staged in the round. Design is by David Woodhead and lighting and sound by David Holmes and Ed Lewis respectively.

Abigail's Party runs at the Leicester Curve from 17 October until 8 November 2014.
