Free Time Radical

Two men survive a massive tsunami that hits London. So they go surfing! This moving and funny show is an excellent exploration of the human conscience.

Whilst the rest of the world is drowning Ali (Sebastien Lawson) and Jenson (Tom Frankland sit in their room talking to each other about their lives whilst fighting over the television remote and learning to play the guitar. The occasional news report coming on the radio or television reminds the audience of the horror of what is going on outside as the pair get into their surf gear to ride the waves over London from St Paul’s Cathedral to the OXO Tower.

Frankland and Lawson both deliver strong performances in this Pinteresque piece. The show is slick, smartly written and very watchable. The animations, created by Magali Charrier, give a strong prologue to the piece.

After the success of Paperweight at 2008’s Fringe and this year’s Free Time Radical, keep an eye on The Frequency D’ici.
