A Prime Porker for a Good Cause

It may be Friday 1 April, but the performance at the Novello Theatre of Betty Blue Eyes will be no April Fool's Day joke. Producer Cameron Macintosh has offered the entire evening in aid of the Royal Theatrical Fund (Acting for Others) charity. Tickets at £65 each include a drinks reception after the show with cast members.

The musical show, adapted from Alan Bennett and Malcolm Mowbray’s script for the film A Private Function revolves around local celebrations for a royal wedding. Only this one isn’t in 2011. It’s in 1947 with rationing still in force, the black market flourishing with meat at a premium. What fate lies in store for plump porker Betty?

Human cast members include Sarah Lancashire and Reece Shearsmith but Betty, of course, takes centre stage and the star billing to go with it. Tickets are available only from the Royal Theatrical Fund, 11 Garrick Street, London WC2E 9AR, telephone: 020 7836 3322, website: www.trtf.com.
