Following the success last June of An Evening with Al Pacino at the London Palladium, fellow Hollywood heavyweight Sylvester Stallone will appear in onstage in a one-off event held at the Central Hall, Westminster on 11 January 2014.

Billed as an “up close and personal” event, An Evening with Sylvester Stallone will include an audience Q&A with the man voted the “Action Star of the Millennium”, whose credits include the Rambo and Rocky franchises.

Stallone is in London in January to promote his latest film, Grudge Match, in which he co-stars with Robert DeNiro. The stage appearance precedes the world premiere of Rocky the Musical, which is based on the original film, written by and starring Stallone. It has music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and opens at Broadway’s Winter Garden in March.

Stallone told the Evening Standard that, at An Evening with…, audiences should not expect the silent type that Stallone has often portrayed onscreen. “When people meet me, they’re often surprised. I consider myself something of a raconteur. I have a rather audacious sense of humour. I’m perceived to be this solitary character, but nothing could be further from the truth.”

Tickets are priced from £45 to £350 and can be purchased at www.seatlive.com.

Yet another Hollywood legend, Julie Andrews, the London-born star of classic screen musicals The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, will also take to the stage in the new year to reflect on the highs and lows of her acting career. An Evening with Julie Andrews is at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on 30 and 31 May 2014, and also visits Birmingham’s NIA (24 May) and Liverpool’s Echo Two (27 May).

Andrews and her stage and screen career is also the subject of Sarah Louise Young’s one-woman tribute show Julie Madly Deeply, currently running at the West End’s Trafalgar Studios 2.
