Arterton Has Last Laugh on Hollywood???

After several years in Hollywood, Gemma Arterton no doubt has plenty of experience to bring to the table when she stars in the forthcoming West End transfer of Douglas Carter Beane’s Hollywood satire The Little Dog Laughed.

Speaking to the Daily Mail recently, the actress, best known as Bond girl Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace said: “There were many reasons for doing this play … I’ve just done these Hollywood movies – and now I can do a play about some aspects of Hollywood and some of the things I’ve seen!”

Although she kept tight-lipped over what those “things” may be, she did reveal it was a relief to be back on British soil: “My character in The Little Dog Laughed is vulnerable, she wants a baby and she wants to be loved, but she’s also hungry for fame and for me that’s so ironic because I’ve had a taste of it and decided I don’t want it. I would rather do a play in England, thank you very much.”

The Little Dog Laughed, which also stars Rupert Friend, Tamsin Greig and Harry Lloyd, starts performances on 8 January 2010 at the West End’s Garrick Theatre (See News, 4 Sep 2009).
