Phantom Launches 2012 UK Tour from Plymouth

As previously tipped, the much anticipated national tour of Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom Of The Opera will premiere at the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 25 February to 31 March 2012.

Hal Prince‘s original production debuted in 1986 and has been seen by more than 100 million people worldwide. Cameron Mackintosh promises an “all-new version”, featuring new sets and costumes by Paul Brown and lighting by Olivier Award winner Paule Constable.

The Phantom of the Opera, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall (the programme of which announced dates for the upcoming tour), is a Cameron Mackintosh and the Really Useful Theatre Company production.

Public booking for the Plymouth dates will open on Thursday 27 October 2011.

According to details for Phantom‘s third national tour, published in the souvenir brochure for last weekend’s 25th anniversary concerts, the production will subsequently travel to the Manchester Palace, Bristol Hippodrome, Dublin Grand Canal, Leeds Grand Theatre, Edinburgh Playhouse, Milton Keynes Theatre, Cardiff Millennium Centre, Southampton Mayflower, Liverpool Empire and Birmingham Hippodrome with dates scheduled into 2013.
