Alexi Kaye Campbell's third play The Faith Machine debuted at the Royal Court's Jerwood Theatre Downstairs last night (31 August, previews from 25 August 2011) starring Ian McDiarmid and Hayley Atwell.

Jamie Lloyd's production sees Sophie and Tom, whose travels from America to Europe, combined with events and decisions along the way, force them to evaluate the relationship between faith and capitalism, as well as questioning the true meaning of love.

Bronagh Gallagher, Jude Akuwudike, Kyle Soller, Kezrena James, Maya Wasowicz and Alan Westaway also appear in The Faith Machine, which follows Kaye Campbell's multi award-winning plays The Pride and Apologia.

The cast and crew were joined to celebrate their opening night by guests including James Grieve, Emma Brunjes, Lucian Msamati, Benedict Cumberbatch, Edward Dick, Bertie Carvel, Ilan Goodman, Ryan Early, Euzie Toase and Louisa Milwood-Haigh.
