Mr Sloane to Entertain on 2010 National Tour???

Nick Bagnall’s recent West End revival of Joe Orton’s black comedy Entertaining Mr Sloane, which had a four-month run at Trafalgar Studios 1 at the beginning of this year, is likely to hit the road at the beginning of next year.

Originally staged in 1964, Orton’s wickedly biting comedy sparked controversy with its mischievous peep at the hypocrisy behind the ‘new’ permissive society of the 1960s and the British fascination with sex.

Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne made his West End debut in the title role (though he missed numerous performances towards the end of the run following a bout of flu and a back injury), alongside Imelda Staunton. No cast has yet been mentioned for the tour – which is looking at ten venues across the country, running from February to April – though another well-known TV actor is likely to take over the role of Sloane.
