Horrible Histories tours to Middle East, extends West End run to Jan 2013

Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain, the children’s history show currently showing in the daytime slot at the Garrick Theatre, will embark on a tour to the Middle East before returning to its West End home in October.

The show will temporarily close on at the Garrick on 1 September, the same day as West End stalwart Chicago plays its final performance after 15 years.

Described by Horrible Histories author Terry Deary as a “medley” of his dozens of previous works, Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain has been showing at the Garrick since 14 February this year. The tour has confirmed dates in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, the three largest cities of the United Arab Emirates.

Following the tour, the production will return to the Garrick from 27 October 2012, shortly after Chicago‘s replacement, the recently-announced Loserville, opens there on 17 October.

Horrible Histories has confirmed that it will run until 6 January 2013, fulfilling Deary’s ambitions to see the show run through Christmas.

The show, adapted by Terry Deary, Neal Foster and Ciaran McConville for the Birmingham Stage Company, will star Alison Fitzjohn alongside Foster, who also directs.
