2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival launches today

The 2011 Edinburgh Fringe officially launched today (3 August 2012) and continues for three weeks to 27 August. The world’s largest arts festival is larger than ever this year with a record-breaking 2,695 shows – 153 more than last year – staged by more than 20,000 performers giving 42,096 performances of those shows in 279 venues.

This year for the Fringe we’re dispatching our team of reviewers, including chief critic Michael Coveney, editor Theo Bosanquet, deputy editor Kieran Corcoran, plus local reviewers on the ground.

We’ll also be blogging our experiences, and have assembled a collection of features and top picks, which will be available throughout the festival on our Scotland regional site.
