Full casting announced for Jacobi-led Heartbreak House

Full casting has been announced for Chichester Festival Theatre’s forthcoming revival of George
Bernard Shaw’s Heartbreak House, which, as previously announced, stars Olivier Award-winner Derek Jacobi. The production,
which will be directed by Richard
Clifford
, runs from 6 July to 25 August.

Jacobi
will take on the role of Captain Shotover in the tragi-comic social drama, with
Emma Fielding
as his daughter, Hesione Hushabye, and Ronald
Pickup
(as Mazzini Dunn), George Layton (as Billy Dunn) and Jo
Stone-Fewings
(as Randall Utterwood) among their guests at a dinner
party at the titular Heartbreak House. Set on the eve of the First World War, the play was first performed in 1920.

Jacobi,
seen on stage most recently in Michael Grandage‘s King
Lear
at the Donmar Warehouse in 2011, has performed at
Chichester many times during his long career. He first appeared at
the theatre in a 1963 production of another Shaw play, Saint
Joan
.

The
cast of Heartbreak House also
includes Fiona Button, Raymond Coulthard, Sara Stewart, Trevor
Cooper
and Maroussia Frank. Set design is by
Stephen Brimson Lewis,
lighting design is by Peter Mumford and the production will feature
music by Jason Carr.
