Fenella Woolgar joins Toby Jones & Imelda Staunton in Royal Court’s Transformation

The full cast has been announced for Annie Baker‘s new play Circle Mirror Transformation, which runs from 5 July to 3 August 2013 at the Rose Lipman Building in Haggerston, as part of the Royal Court’s Theatre Local project.

The production, which as previously announced stars Toby Jones and Imelda Staunton, forms part of new Royal Court artistic director Vicky Featherstone’s inaugural ‘Open Court’ season.

Joining Jones and Staunton in the cast are: Shannon Tarbet (Spur of the Moment), Danny Webb (The Witness, Chicken Soup with Barley) and Fenella Woolgar (Motortown, Hedda Gabler).

The play, which centres on five people who come together at a community centre class to try and find some meaning in their lives, is directed by James Macdonald.

Launched in 2010 at Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre in an empty shop unit before transferring to Peckham, Theatre Local aims to take plays to alternative spaces. In her first summer at the helm of the Royal Court, Featherstone continues the project with two new plays outside the building.

As well as Circle Mirror Transformation, the National Theatre of Scotland (where Featherstone was formerly artistic director) will present its production of The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart at the London Welsh Centre and the Bussey Building in Peckham.

Open Court is a six week festival of plays, ideas and events chosen and suggested by a group of over 140 writers, and runs at the Royal Court in Sloane Square from 10 June to 20 July.
