Daniel Koek Leads South Pacific Cast to Barbican???

Are our hopes of seeing Matthew Morrison revive his Lincoln Centre performance as Joe Cable in South Pacific truly dashed? The Daily Mail‘s Baz Bamigboye this morning tells us to expect Daniel Koek (the lead in Craig Revel Horwood‘s touring revival of Chess and star of West Side Story) in the role when the production arrives at the Barbican this summer. The Mail also reports Loretta Ables Sayre will reprise her New York performance as Bloody Mary alongside Paulo Szot as Emile DeBecque and newcomer to the production Eastender Samantha Womack as nurse Nellie. The Rogers and Hammerstein musical, directed by Bartlett Sher, plays the Barbican from 15 August to 1 October 2011 before embarking on a national tour. Stay tuned for more coverage from the show’s press launch on Wednesday (20 April 2011).
