Kenwright revives Norris’ award-winning Cabaret?

Speaking at the recent Whatsonstage.com Awards, impressario Bill Kenwright revealed plans to revive Rufus Norris‘ award-winning production of Cabaret, last seen in the West End in 2008.

The production originally opened on 10 October 2006 with Anna Maxwell Martin as Sally
Bowles and James Dreyfus as the shady Emcee. Kenwright subsequently produced a UK tour in 2008/09, which starred Samantha Barks and Wayne Sleep.

He didn’t reveal further details of the revival, but Cabaret could well be back on the road, or even in the West End, later this year.

Based on the stories of Christopher Isherwood and the play by John Van Druten, Cabaret has a book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. It premiered on Broadway in 1966 and in 1972 was made into an
Oscar-winning film starring Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowles, Michael York
as Cliff and Joel Grey as the Emcee.
