Stagey and Proud (Sheridan Smith Version)
Music & Lyrics by Chris Passey & Amy Carroll
The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning
Is to check my Twitter feed to see how many mentions I’ve got.
Last night I made a big annoucement – got retweeted by Idina…
But only ’cause I asked her.
Well why not?!
Currently I’m filming and Musicals I’m mourning
So I wear my ‘Wicked’ backpack and pray it will be “One Short Day”!
At lunch I grab a skinny latte
And I warm up while I’m waiting
With a routine that goes something like this:
“Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr”
Miaow miaow miaow.
May mar moor moo,
fa la la laaaaaaaaa.
People stop and stare
But I don’t f***ing care,
Because I’m Stagey and Proud!
I’m out and loud and Stagey and Proud.
My audition date is looming,
My repertoire is blooming
But I don’t know what to sing yet,
I was thinking maybe something from Glee?!
Who knows?
I would ask for your opinion,
But you’d probably need my help though,
Cus nobody’s as stagey as me.
The tube is the ideal place to practice
Every note and step and nuance to perfect my stagey entrance and though,
I know, it annoys you to be near me,
I can’t help but sing much louder and I’ll step-ball-change as I alight!
If being stagey is a crime, then arrest me now and I’ll serve my time!
You can’t stop me…
Dancing and singing and acting away
As you day-workers work in your day jobs all day.
And I will not stand back as my whole world is knocked:
The last time I sang these notes I was Legally Blonde!
Every step that I take is a par-de-bouree
And if you do not like it then get out my way
‘Cause I’m not backing down:
I am taking a stand
As right here and right now Stagey’s let’s all join hands
‘Cause as Stevie Schwartz would say: I’m defying gravitaaaay.
Because I’m Stagey and Proud! I’m out and loud and Stagey and Proud!
Got my Sharpie out I’m ready for the crowd.
I gotta shout it out loud!
I’m Stagey!
Yes Im Stagey…
And Proud!
