Next up for Jamie Lloyd at Trafalgar – Hothouse & Apologia?

Jamie Lloyd‘s five-play residency at the newly reconfigured Trafalgar Studios opens next month in glittering style with the James McAvoy-led Macbeth.

Although further productions in the season are still to be confirmed, the Sunday Times reported recently that among them could be revivals of Harold Pinter’s The Hothouse and Alexi Kaye Campbell’s Apologia.

According to columnist Richard Brooks, The Hothouse – the last major production of which was at the National Theatre in 2007 – will follow Macbeth with a 12-week run. The play, which is set in an ambiguous institution, was written in 1958 but only premiered in 1980 at Hampstead Theatre.

Apologia was Alexi Kaye Campbell‘s second play and premiered at the Bush Theatre in 2009. It looks at a successful career woman and what happens when her neglected son decides to deliver his own twist on her memoirs.

A spokesperson for the Trafalgar Transformed season, which is produced by Ambassador Theatre Group and will see the venue set in the round with a raised stage, said that both productions are still to be confirmed.

Macbeth, which also stars Claire Foy, runs from 22 February to 27 April 2013 (previews from 9 February).
