Boyle’s NT Frankenstein Visited by Underworld???

The National Theatre’s upcoming production of Frankenstein starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternating in the roles of Victor Frankenstein and The Creature, will see director Danny Boyle once again collaborating with British electronic group Underworld who have been commissioned to write the production’s “soundscore”. Frankenstein marks the third large-scale collaboration between the duo, real names Karl Hyde and Rick Smith and the director, who used their track “Born Slippy .NUXX” to underscore the final scene of his 1996 film Trainspotting. The film sparked immense public interest in the trackm with the single peaking at number 2 in the UK chart. Underworld went on to work with Boyle on his 2007 sci-fi film Sunshine. Boyle’s Frankenstein, which opens on 22 February 2011 (previews from 5 February) and runs until 17 April 2011, plays the NT Olivier in rep alongside Peter Hall‘s 80th birthday production of Twelfth Night. The show will be broadcast by the National’s theatre-to-cinema streaming project NT Live on 17 March 2011.
