In celebration of the 200 year anniversary of the publication of the original Jane Austen novel, a new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice from Joannah Tincey and directed by Abigail Anderson will open this September at the Salisbury Playhouse.
It follows a successful run at Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds and will embark on a two month tour following its opening week.
Starring only two actors, (Tincey herself alongside Nicholas Underwood), Tincey wanted to 'create an adaptation where the characters talk to the audience in the same way that Austen talks to her reader'.
Telling Darcy and Lizzy's classic love story from start to finish, using only Austen's original words, Pride and Prejudice opens on 18 September and tours until its final week at York Theatre Royal on 22 November. Tickets are on sale now.
The production will also visit towns and cities including Exeter, Swansea, Guildford, London, Basingstoke, Newbury, Canterbury, Lincoln, Keswick and Maidenhead.
