Branagh's Macbeth wins three Manchester Theatre Awards
Today, at the Manchester Theatre Awards, Sir Kenneth Branagh won Best Actor, and the production also won Best production and Best Supporting Actor for Ray Fearon. But the rest of the awards feature a variety of Manchester linked productions – both visiting and in house. Hosted by Justin Moorhouse, the awards are voted for by a panel of reviewers, including Alan Hulme and Carmel Thomason who write for Whatsonstage.com.

Best newcomer – Freya Sutton, Hairspray, The Lowry
Best new play – Away From Home, 24:7 Festival
Best studio production – Brilliant Adventures, Royal Exchange Studio
