The cast for Roy Williams' new play Wildefire, which premieres at Hampstead Theatre next month, will be led by Lorraine Stanley as Gail Wilde, an "average policewoman" whose professional conduct is called into question.
Stanley, best known for starring in award-winning 2006 film London to Brighton, will be joined in the principal cast by Cian Barry, Ricky Champ, Fraser James, Simon Manyonda and Sharlene Whyte.
Williams' play, which is directed by Maria Aberg (As You Like It, RSC), looks at "the maelstrom of urban policing and the mental and physical impact it has on the people we rely on to keep the peace".
It runs on the Hampstead's main stage from 12 to 29 November 2014 (previews from 6 November). The cast is completed by Eric Kofi Abrefa, Danny Dalton, Sammy Hayman, Tara Hodge and Noof Ousellam.
Wildefire is followed at Hampstead, from 8 December to 17 January, by a revival of Nina Raine's NHS play Tiger Country, which was first seen at the venue in 2011.
