Diana Quick: 'Babette's Feast has made me think a lot about the unappreciated skills of refugees'

We met with the cast of Bill Buckhurst’s production to find out more about the show

We popped into rehearsals to chat with the cast of Glyn Maxwell's stage adaptation of Babette's Feast which is currently running at the Print Room.

Based on the short story by Danish author Karen Blixen, Babette's Feast tells of two sisters living in a remote coastal village with their father. They live simple lives until a refugee arrives seeking sanctuary from the French Civil War.

The cast features Sheila Atim (Les Blancs) in the titular role alongside Joseph Marcell (King Lear, Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Diana Quick (Brideshead Revisited) and Marjorie Yates (Shameless).

The cast is completed by Norma Attalah, Amanda Boxer, Richard Clews, Ladi Emeruwa, Henry Everett, Whoopie van Raam and Rachel Winters.

The production reunites director Bill Buckhurst with designer Simon Kenny following their collaboration on Sweeney Todd at Harrington's Pie and Mash Shop. It also has new music composed by Olly Fox.

Babette's Feast runs at the Print Room until 3 June 2017.
