Production pics released for NYT's Private Peaceful

The National Youth Theatre’s new production of the Michael Morpurgo novel opens today as part of the company’s latest residency at the Ambassadors Theatre

Production images have been released for the National Youth Theatre's eagerly-anticipated new production of Private Peaceful.

Michael Morpurgo's novel has been re-adapted for the stage by Simon Reade, who originally wrote it as a one man show and has now imagined it for a whole company, with direction by Paul Hart.

Private Peaceful tells the heart-wrenching story of Tommo, a young First World War soldier awaiting the firing squad at dawn. During the night he relives his short but vivid past: his terrifying first day at school; the accident in the forest that killed his father; late-night poaching with Molly, the love of his life; and the battles and injustices of war that have brought him to the front line.

The NYT Rep Company's Season featuring Selfie, Private Peaceful and Macbeth runs between 17 September and 28 November at The Ambassadors Theatre.
