Orange Tree Theatre to host UK premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' The Octoroon

Paul Miller has announced the remaining productions in his third season as artistic director of the Orange Tree Theatre, with highlights including the UK premiere of An Octoroon by Pulitzer Prize-nominee Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, and the first major revival of Clare McIntyre’s Low Level Panic.

In a co-production with the Actors Touring Company, Ramin Gray will direct the UK premiere of Roland Schimmelpfennig’s comedy about family and betrayal, Winter Solstice, from 12 January to 11 February. This will be followed by Clare McIntyre’s Low Level Panic from 16 February to 25 March. The play which studies the effects of society’s objectification of women, won the Samuel Beckett Award when it premiered at the Royal Court in 1988.

At the same time, Twelfth Night will be the venue's Shakespeare Up Close production, directed by Alex Thorpe from 18 to 25 March. From 30 March to 13 May, Miller will direct Marivaux’s The Lottery of Love in a previously unseen version by John Fowles (The French Lieutenant’s Woman) setting it in Regency England.

Finally, Ned Bennett returns to the Orange Tree, following his success with Pomona, to direct the UK premiere of the OBIE Award-winning play The Octoroon by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. The play, which runs from 18 May to 24 June, focusses on the difficulties of identity and life.
