The cast joining John Boyega in the upcoming production of Woyzeck has been announced.

Ben Batt – who was seen recently in A Streetcar Named Desired at the Royal Exchange in Manchester – will play Andrews, Nancy Carroll (The Moderate Soprano, The Recruiting Officer, Closer) plays Maggie, Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful) plays Marie and Steffan Rhodri (This House) plays Captain.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child writer Jack Thorne has adapted Georg Buchner's classic, updating it to 1980s Berlin during the Cold War.

The original was never finished by the playwright, but has been posthumously finished by a series of authors. It was first published in 1879 and looks at the way a young man is changed by war, doctors and the military.

Joe Murphy directs the piece, which begins its run in May this year.

Woyzeck runs at the Old Vic from 23 May to 24 June with previews from 13 May.
