Take a backstage tour of Bat Out of Hell

Ahead of the show’s West End premiere we went backstage at the Coliseum

As the cast of Jim Steinman's musical Bat Out of Hell prepares to open at the London Coliseum next week, the show's stars Andrew Polec and Christina Bennington took us on a behind-the-scenes tour.

The show has been created from Steinman's original Bat Out of Hell album which was released in 1977 and performed by Meat Loaf. Steinman and Meat Loaf then followed up the album with Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell which was released in 1993.

Songs on the albums include "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth", "Bat Out of Hell" and "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)". The original album has sold over 50 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the best-selling albums in history.

The musical features tracks from the albums as well as two previously unreleased songs. It tells the story of a rebellious youth who falls in love and is set in a post-cataclysmic city ruled by a tyrannical leader called Obsidian.

Directed by Jay Schieb, Polec stars as Strat and Bennington is Raven.

Bat Out of Hell runs at the London Coliseum from 20 June to 5 August, with previews from 5 June.
