Hofesh Shechter Creates First Full-Length Work

The much-anticipated first full-length work by choreographer-composer Hofesh Shechter debuts at the Brighton Dome in May 2010. It will be performed at Sadler’s Wells in July, after which it starts an international tour to Germany, South Korea, Japan, Australia and Ireland.

Entitled Political Mother, the new piece is described as featuring Shechter’s signature choreography of gritty unisons, percussive grooves and raw physicality. It will be danced by the ten members of the Hofesh Shechter Company to music composed by Shechter himself which will be performed live.

Hofesh Shechter Company is the company-in-residence at Brighton Dome and Hofesh himself is Associate Artist at Sadler’s Wells. Political Mother is commissioned by the Brighton Festival and Sadler’s Wells alongside Movimentos, Biennale de la danse de Lyon, Romaeuropa and Mercat de les Flors with support from Theatre Royal, Plymouth.
