Barbican’s bite10 Programme Announced

Tickets for the next cycle of the Barbican’s bite programme, which runs from January to May 2010, are now on sale.

The season includes some significant dance names, including Tanztheater Wuppertal, the company formed by Pina Bausch who died suddenly in June this year. The visit reprises her 1978 work Kontakthof which was performed at the Barbican in 2002 by a company of senior dancers and non-professionals. Eight years later Bausch remounted the piece but this time the performers were teenagers. Bite10 sees both versions of Kontakthof in April.

Other dance events in the bite10 season is Nic Green’s Trilogy (Friday 22, Saturday 23 January), a paean to womankind which includes a joyous naked dance performed entirely by volunteers, and Circa Circa (Tuesday 9–Sunday 14 March) by the contemporary Australian circus company of the same name.

The Barbican also collaborates with London International Mime Festival in January with three LIMF shows including Öper Öpis (Wednesday 13–Saturday 16 January) by Zimmermann & de Perrot from Switzerland
