Award-winning musical Once today became the first musical to record a Spotify session.

The session, which featured all 14 members of the cast including Declan Bennett and Zrinka Cvitešić playing between them 25 instruments, included four songs from the show; Oscar winning "Falling Slowly", "Gold", "Raglan Road" and "Chandlers Wife".

Once has book by award-winning Irish playwright and screenwriter Enda Walsh (Disco Pigs, Misterman, The Walworth Farce). Based on the 2007 motion picture written and directed by John Carney, music and lyrics are by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová who won the Oscar for Best Original Song for "Falling Slowly".

Scenic and costume designs are by Bob Crowley, with lighting by Natasha Katz, sound by Clive Goodwin, musical supervision and orchestrations by Martin Lowe and movement by Steven Hoggett (Black Watch).

Described as a "ground breaking collaboration for the digital savvy and music loving audience", the recorded session will air on Tuesday 12 November at 12:30pm on the show's website.

Spotify MD UK, Ireland & Benelux, Adam Williams said: "We’re delighted to work with such a talented cast as our first ever theatrical Spotify session".
