New Ballet For ENB’s Male Dancers

A new ballet for ENB’s male dancers has been created by the company’s Artistic Director Wayne Eagling. Described as “athletic and acrobatic”, the piece is called Men Y Men with music by Rackmaninoff. It will be performed as part of a double bill with Giselle – the romantic ballet dominated by female dancers.

In a separate announcement, ENB has named the nominees for its first Emerging Dancer Award. The in-house scheme is a way for English National Ballet to recognize and nurture its up-and-coming dancers, with Esteban Berlanga, Anäis Chalendard, Crystal Costa, Ksenia Ovsyanick, Junor de Oliveira Souza and Venus Villa competing for the £5,000 cash prize. The winner will be announced at an awards evening in February 2010.

ENB’s autumn season begins on 23 September in Manchester, and continues on to Liverpool, Bristol, Southampton, Oxford and London.
