Dance School Summer Shows

The summer season of dance school shows begins on 27 June with Laban’s performances by its graduating BA (Hons) students. Next is London Studio Centre on 30 June with the first of three shows at the Peacock Theatre, starting with its contemporary dancers (Intoto Dance). London Studio Centre’s jazz students appear on 3 July, and its ballet students on 5 July.

The Royal Ballet School is at the Royal Opera House from 1 July, first in the Linbury Studio Theatre (1-4 July) and then on the main stage (12 July). This includes a performance of Frederick Ashton’s The Dream, coached by the original cast, plus work by Stanton Welch, the Artistic Director of The Houston Ballet, and Royal Ballet School teacher Antonio Castilla. Ashley Page’s Larina Waltz is also performed, as is the grand defile when all 200 students from both Upper and Lower Schools file on stage.

From 3 until 10 July students of London Contemporary Dance School perform at The Place. This features a mixed bill of work from Richard Alston, Hanna Gillgren, Colin Poole, Lorena Randi and Jose Vidal.

Graduates of English National Ballet School are at the Peacock on 14 July, with a programme of work by Michael Corder and Kerry Nicholls, plus ballets by Frederick Ashton and Jorge Garcia.

Ballet Central, the graduating students of the Central School of Ballet, are at the Unicorn Theatre on 16–18 July, with work by Richard Alston David Bintley and the late Christopher Gable, the founder of Central School of Ballet.
