Almeida’s Chimerica transfers to West End in August

The Headlong and Almeida Theatre co-production, which is sold out for the rest of the run at the Islington venue, will run at the Harold Pinter from 6 August until 19 October 2013.
The cast, which includes Stephen Campbell Moore, Benedict Wong, Claudie Blakley, Elizabeth Chan and Sean Gilder will all reprise their roles for the West End run.
A new play by Lucy Kirkwood, Chimerica is a drama sparked by the Tiananmen Square protests in China in 1989.
As tanks roll through Beijing and soldiers hammer on his hotel door, Joe – a young American photojournalist – captures a piece of history. When a cryptic message is left in a Beijing newspaper more than 20 years later, Joe is driven to discover the truth behind the unknown hero he captured on film. Who was he? What happened to him? And could he still be alive?
Tickets are onsale now, and there will be over 150 seats for each performance at £10.
Chimerica will be produced in the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions, Bob Bartner/Norman Tulchin and Jean Doumanian.
