Sunshine on Leith at West Yorkshire Playhouse casting announced

The Proclaimers musical will run in Leeds, directed by James Brining

Full casting has been announced for West Yorkshire Playhouse's upcoming production of The Proclaimers musical Sunshine on Leith.

Steven Miller (The James Plays) and Paul-James Corrigan (River City) lead the cast as servicemen and friends Davy and Ally, while Jocasta Almgill (In The Heights) will play Yvonne. Joining them is Neshla Caplan as Liz, Phil McKee and Hilary Maclean as Rab and Jean, Lorraine Graham as Hazel and Nikki Patel as Eilidh.

The cast is completed with Euan Bennet, Joel Burman, Tyler Collins, Richard Colvin, John McLarnon, Lorna McMillan, Matthew Malthouse, Emma Mullen, Sioned Saunders and Kara Swinney.

The production is to be directed by James Brining and is written by Stephen Greenhorn. The songs included are The Proclaimers hits including "I'm Gonna Be (500 Mile)", "Letter from America" and "Sunshine on Leith". The musical was adapted into a film in 2013 starring Jane Horrocks and Peter Mullan and tells of servicemen who return home to Edinburgh and begin to rediscover their identity and fall in love.

Sunshine on Leith runs at the Quarry Theatre from 26 April to 19 May, with previews from 20 April.
