The Blues Brothers – Live

I like to think of myself as an authority on Blues Brothers shows, however never before have I seen a group come so close to the vibrancy and anarchic energy of the young Ackroyd and Belushi as this one does.

With a ridiculously talented mob of youngsters these guys infect the audience with a delirious state of groove. There isn’t a weak link, as well as the fantastic Jake and Elwood they have a fantastic Cab Calloway and the sexiest back-up singers in town.

I would have given five stars had this 55 minute show not finished after 30 minutes and moved on to an encore, this led to audience riot, storming the stage, forcing the band to repeat two other songs. The purist in me also missed the signature briefcase and handcuffs. All this aside I can’t help feel if these guys had taken to the streets in the bluesmobile on Friday night, London may not be in the state it’s in now.
