Latest Fringe Firsts include Waller-Bridge's Fleabag and Ridley's Dark Vanilla Jungle

By • Scotland

Six more winners of The Scotsman‘s prestigious Fringe First awards have been announced in Edinburgh.

Now in their 40th year, the Fringe Firsts are the longest running theatre awards at the festival.

The panel of critics is led by The Scotsman‘s Joyce McMillan.

This week's winners include Phoebe Waller-Bridge's solo show Fleabag at Underbelly, and Philip Ridley's new play Dark Vanilla Jungle at the Pleasance.

Theatre Uncut at the Traverse wins its second Fringe First for its programme of short plays that "raise debate and call for action".

The other winners are: Deirdre Kinahan's two-hander These Halycon Days (Assembly Hall); Fine Chisel's Dumbstruck (Zoo); and Brazilian show Water Stain (EICC).

The winners - with more more round to be announced next week - will be celebrated during a free awards show at Assembly Hall on 23 August at 10am.
