25th Gilded Balloon Season Takes Off

Gilded Balloon began it’s 25th Birthday celebrations with a press launch and party held in the main venue at their Teviot headquarters. Founder, Karen Koren welcomed the audience, recalling the many now stellar comedians who appeared at the venue in previous years.

The launch line-up included Jarred Christmas, Ali Cook,with a spectacular illusion, Miles Jupp, recently seen in the acclaimed BBC comedy, Rev, Curb your Enthusiasm’s Caroline Rhea, Dead Cat Bounce, Celia Pacquola and The Boy With Tape on His Face.

Big comedy names also appearing in this year’s programme: Craig Hill, Barry Cryer, Patrick Monahan, Phil Kay and Tommy Tiernan.

Showstoppers, The Improvised Musical has found a new home at Teviot and Fringe veteran, David Benson has two wildly different shows, Lockerbie: Unfinished Business and The Singalong Glee Club and returiog for an ther Edinburgh run, Hit Me: The Life and Times of Ian Drury.

The venue will also celebrate the milestone with a series of 25th Anniversary shows featuring acts from the 2010 programme joined by former Gilded Balloon alumni.
